Former Beauty Queens Create Singing Group

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - An all-girl singing group with ties to our area will be performing this weekend in Los Angeles at an event called All Access Hall Pass Live.

The event will showcase some huge names in the music world, such as Sky Blue from LMFAO and DJ Pauly D.

The group consists of all beauty queens. One holds the title of Miss USA 2005 and another Miss Universe 1998.

But with their pageant days behind them, they are hoping music will define them now.

From as far away as China to Trinidad and Tobago, to right here in the US, the BQ Girls, aka Beauty Queen Girls, is not your average girl band.

"We all get along perfectly, they are just like my big sisters, we have so much fun together. But when it is down to business we all have a good time working together," said Lil Bit, who has the title World's Glamorous Teen.

Beauty queens by trade, they are now chasing a different career.

"We've been working very closely with the Miss Universe organization and Mr. Trump. They have been huge mentors for us in this business," said Chelsea Cooley, Miss USA 2005

The BQ Girls are practicing here in Madison Heights, the hometown of their manager AT Dunn.

They realize being beautiful or a great singer isn't everything, and they also want to be role models.

"We are focused on being the best BQ girls we can possibly be. That said, we are going to do so with our integrity intact and with our value system riding along with us," said Wendy Fitzwilliam, Miss Universe 1998.

Haley Seibert, 17, or Lil Bit, gave up a successful pageant career to become a singer.

"It's been a dream of mine ever since I was little, so to be living this dream at 17 is just amazing," she said.

She also says it's important to stay grounded.

"I'm not in this for the fame, the money, or just to be a celebrity. I'm doing this to make me happy, and to make other people happy."

Their song "I Be on the Run" will actually be on iTunes this week.

If you would like to follow the band on their trip to LA, you can follow them on Twitter.
