Danville, VA -- A new kind of haunted house is coming to Danville. The owner of the Historic North Theatre, Wayne Alan, has designed illusions for Six Flags and other amusement parks and now he has created a haunted house for the Southside. It is in the North Theatre on North Main.
The Historic North Theatre will host several tours between now and Halloween. And since Alan's specialty is illusion, you can count on a lot of magic.
"I hope they come out of it screaming with delight," said Alan.
Illusionist, Wayne Alan, has created something like nothing you've ever seen. A theatre that normally hosts magic shows upstairs -- is now home to a haunted house in the basement.
"It's another way of utilizing the building in a theatrical, entertaining fun way, other than just the stage," said Alan.
When you walk through this haunted house, you will notice that it is a little different than most. Instead of having chainsaws and gore, they have illusions and special effects.
"There is a magical aspect to this haunted house that other haunted houses don't have," said Josh Young, Helping Build Haunted House.
This haunted house centers around a unique theme as well. It takes you on a journey through Harry Houdini's life and death, which, ironically, fell on Halloween.
"I think this honors him and it's the only haunted house in the country like it," said Alan.
"I've never seen anything like this. It's awe inspiring," said Young.
Alan hopes he can amaze, scare, and leave you wondering how.
"I hope that a lot of people come and they have a fun time, they see a lot of neat things, they are intrigued by the magic and they are like 'wow that was really cool!' and 'Ah scary and all this'," said Alan.
The first tour will be Friday night and it costs $13 for general admission. There will be several more shows between now and Halloween.
