Lynchburg, VA-Quite a scene Friday night in Lynchburg when a routine traffic stop when wrong.
It happened at the intersection of Stratford and Brandon Roads at around 9:45 p.m.State Police says Trooper N.E. Hollandsworth pulled over 41-year-old James Ernest Peebles Junior of Lynchburg for suspected drunk driving.
When Trooper Hollandsworth tried to arrest Peebles, he resisted and a scuffle broke out. Hollandsworth was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was released several hours later.
Peebles was arrested and police say he has been charged with DUI, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer.
