Man Pleads Guilty to Murder in Henry Co.

Henry Co., VA - A Henry County marijuana dealer who plotted with others to rob and murder one of his customers, pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Rodney Hairston of Martinsville appeared in US District Court in Danville. He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute marijuana...one count of possessing a firearm and first degree murder.

Four other people previously pleaded guilty to the same charges.

In 2010, Hairston contacted his cousin, a known gang member, and others to help him rob one of his drug customers in Henry County.

After being ambushed by Hairston and others, the customer-Akorean Murphy- later died of gunshot wounds.
