Joe Biden Stops in Roanoke to Thank Campaign Workers

Roanoke, VA - Volunteers working for the Obama campaign got a big surprise Monday afternoon as Vice President Joe Biden made a stop at the Roanoke headquarters.

The Vice President was accompanied by Senator Mark Warner and former Governor Tim Kaine. It was one of five stops across Virginia the three are making Monday.

When the entourage arrived downtown, nearly 100 campaign workers were on hand to cheer as the three each delivered a stack of pizzas.

Biden took the time to reiterate how important winning Virginia is to the President's chances for re-election.

But more than anything, the Vice President wanted to tell the workers how much he appreciated their work.

"We just wanted to say, 'Thank you, thank you so very much,'" he said.

"And this just really pumps us up even more. So we are going to make some more calls and knock on some more doors so... it's really exciting to have him here and give us a little boost," said Trish White Boyd, an Obama supporter.

Earlier in the day the trio visited Loudon County and Norfolk with additional stops Monday evening in Sterling before wrapping up with John Mellencamp in Richmond.
