Danville - Today's high school Team of the Week is G.W. football. The Eagles won their first outright district title since 2007 Friday night when they beat Halifax County 35-3. Senior Travis Jones had a huge game for G.W. in the district clincher, running for 140 yards on just 19 carries.
The Eagles finished the regular season a perfect 4-and-0 in the Western Valley, 8-and-2 overall.
Now they host Brooke Point out of Stafford Friday night in round one of the playoffs, Coach Bobby Martin proud of his players.
Bobby Martin, G.W. EAGLES HEAD COACH, said "They bought in. We don't have any, we don't have any superstars anywhere, on our team we don't have any superstars. We talk hard work, run to the football, tackle, and play together."
