ICF International Teams Up With DAV to Help Local Vets

Posted:

Martinsville, VA -  There was a free service in Martinsville Monday to help veterans transition back to every day life.

ICF International brought in representatives from DAV or Disabled American Veterans to help out.

ICF employs many veterans, but Monday's service was open to anyone. They brought in a DAV mobile service unit and even met one-on-one with the veterans to talk about their specific needs. They answered questions and helped submit claims to the VA.

Dozens of veterans lined up to work with counselors. ICF says they support DAV as one of their corporate charities, which is why they wanted to set up this event.

They also presented the group with a $20,000 check to continue their efforts throughout the country. They say it's too important of a service to not help out.

"I think that's what DAV's special gift is. They take a very complicated process, which it has to be, to give the individualized care for veterans and they make it more understandable," said Douglas Beck, senior VP director of Corporate Development for ICF.

While Monday was the only day this service was offered at ICF, DAV helps veterans year round.
