Sooners Release 2013 Football Schedule

The Big 12 Conference released its 2013 football schedule as approved by the league's Directors of Athletics. Oklahoma opens its 2013 schedule vs. Louisiana-Monroe on Aug. 31. The Sooners' 2013 Big 12 Conference slate begins with a home contest against West Virginia on Sept. 7, and features a nine-game, round-robin schedule. OU's non-conference schedule also features the team's first visit to Notre Dame since 1999.

"Our scheduling philosophy has been well documented over the years. We work annually to ensure that our schedule is challenging and gives our team an opportunity of competing for championships," said vice president for intercollegiate athletics and director of athletics Joe Castiglione. "We are excited about opening our Big 12 Conference schedule at home and look forward to facing quality competition throughout the year." 

The Sooners open the 2013 season at home with their first meeting in program history against Louisiana-Monroe. Oklahoma is 10-0 all-time against teams from the Sun Belt, most recently defeating North Texas, 79-10, on Sept. 1, 2007. The contest against the Warhawks marks the earliest start to the season for OU since opened against Chattanooga on Aug. 30, 2008.

The Sooners open Big 12 play at home on Sept. 7 as West Virginia makes its inaugural trek to Norman as a member of the Big 12. The contest will mark the Mountaineers' first road game at Oklahoma since 1982. The Sooners are 3-2 all-time vs. West Virginia, including a 50-49 win at Morgantown in the initial conference game between the two teams on Nov. 17, 2012. 

Oklahoma then squares off against in-state foe Tulsa on Sept. 14. Oklahoma owns a 17-7-1 edge over Tulsa, including an 11-3-1 mark in Norman. After an open date on Sept. 21, Oklahoma closes out its non-conference schedule on Sept. 28 at Notre Dame. The two teams met in Norman on Oct. 27, 2012 before a crowd of 86,031 at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, the highest attendance for a sporting event ever held in the state of Oklahoma.

TCU makes its first appearance in Norman as a member of the Big 12 on Oct. 5. Oklahoma is 7-4 all-time against the Horned Frogs. Oklahoma won the last meeting between the two schools by a 35-10 margin in Norman on Sept. 27, 2008.    

The 108th meeting between Oklahoma and Texas will be held in Dallas on Oct. 12 as the Sooners look for their fourth straight win in the storied Red River Rivalry played in the Cotton Bowl. The Sooners won their most recent contest against the Longhorns by a 63-21 margin.

The OU-Texas game will be followed by a trip to face Kansas on Oct. 19. The Sooners have won eight straight against the Jayhawks and own a 33-15-4 all-time record in Lawrence, Kan. Texas Tech visits Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Oct. 26. The Sooners hold an 8-2 advantage in home games against the Red Raiders.

Oklahoma enjoys an open date on Nov. 2 before resuming its schedule on Nov. 9 at Baylor. OU has posted a 21-1 record all-time against the Bears, including a 10-1 record in Waco, Texas. Oklahoma returns home to host Iowa State on Nov. 16. The Sooners hold a 36-3-1 all-time edge against Iowa State in Norman, where the Sooners have won seven straight over the Cyclones.

The Sooners finish their regular season schedule with back-to-back Big 12 road contests for the first time since 2010. Oklahoma visits Kansas State on Nov. 23. OU has registered four consecutive road wins against the Wildcats, holding a 35-10-1 edge in games played in Manhattan, Kan. Oklahoma concludes its regular season slate as the Bedlam Series returns to Stillwater, Okla., on Dec. 7. The Sooners have registered an 82-17-7 all-time record against their in-state rival.  

Dates are subject to change as adjustments are possible to accommodate television partners' requests.
