BLACKSBURG - Instead of using time outs to "ice" Virginia Tech kicker Cody Journell before he kicked what became the game-winning field goal, Virginia coach Mike London could have used them earlier in order to preserve a little bit of time for UVa's offense to potentially score after Tech's go-ahead field goal.
Former Cavalier quarterback Matt Shaub, now with the Houston Texans tweeted this:
@MSchaub8 Terrible clock management by my wahoos today. Could've had a min left for O by using TOs.
The Daily Press' David Teel suggested, "Had London used his timeouts, the Cavaliers might have regained the ball with 40-some seconds remaining, albeit against a defense that limited them to 68 second-half yards."
London answered with this response.
