Big Savings Expected on Cyber Monday

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - With Black Friday and Small Business Saturday behind us we are in the full swing of Christmas Shopping! The next mega shopping day is Cyber Monday.

Many shoppers say this is their favorite time of the year. They love the parties, the exchanging of gifts and of course the shopping. If you want big discounts on those purchases, you might want to take a look at the Cyber Monday Deals.

You can expect free shipping, huge discounts and one other thing that Winton Tyree says is important to him.

"You don't have to stand in line," said Tyree.

It's all what makes Cyber Monday the most popular online shopping day of the year.

We reported on thousands of people waiting in lines for hours, all to get the big Black Friday discounts. Stores even opened on Thanksgiving, hoping customers would slice the turkey, then start shopping.

But Tyree says Cyber Monday, is when he prefers to do his shopping.

"You're not out here trying to beat the crowds and stuff, and it's just the convenience of going home and shopping," said Tyree.

Chantal Collins did brave the crowds on Black Friday, but she says come cyber Monday, she'll be at it again.

"I shop everywhere I can get a bargain," said Collins.

Monday, the deals shouldn't be hard to find. During a quick search of the Internet we found sites offering 30% off everything. Another one is offering free shipping, 20% off, AND $15 store gift card.

But some people say there are certain things they just rather buy in the store.

"Online I prefer electronics, movies, video games, and animated stuff but in the store I rather get clothes and shoes because I rather see it on me and try it on and make sure it fits instead of just looking at a picture," said Laura Francis, who plans to do a lot of Christmas shopping.

For others, online is just the easiest way.

"I would say 90% of my Christmas shopping will be done online," said Tyree.

Last year the web site, ComScore.COM reported that consumers spent a record 1.25 billion dollars on Cyber Monday.

That marked only the second time the U-S has ever spent more than one billion dollars online in a single day.
