Roanoke Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect


UPDATE - 2:33 p.m.

Roanoke, VA - We're getting more details about a bank robbery and arrest this morning in Roanoke.

Police say Michael Byers, 53 entered the Freedom First Credit Union on Williamson Road at 9:04 a.m. and gave a teller a note. No weapon was displayed during the robbery and no one was hurt.

Byers allegedly fled to the Valley View Boulevard area with an unknown amount of money. Roanoke police quickly surrounded the area and were able to match the suspect's description.

Byers has been charged with robbery.


Roanoke, VA - Roanoke police have arrested a man they say matches the description of a bank robbery suspect at Valley View Mall.

A police spokeswoman says the man was arrested shortly after the Freedom First Credit Union, on Williamson Road, was robbed.

So far, the suspect has not been charged with the robbery.
