New images from the site of a downed airplane have been released after a Broken Arrow man crashed on his way to Tulsa Riverside Airport.
Tom Steeper, 64, was aboard the twin-engine Cessna 421 plane after it crashed in a wooded area near Wells, Texas, late Monday evening. His plane departed the West Houston Airport on its way back to Tulsa.
Channel 8's sister station in Tyler, Texas, sent us aerial images of the wreckage site Wednesday morning.
Air traffic controllers lost contact about 9:30 p.m. Monday. FAA
spokesman Lynn Lunsford said in a news release that the aircraft had
been trying to avoid weather near Cherokee County in East Texas when it
vanished from radar.
Steeper had his private pilot certificate
since 2008 with single and multi-engine ratings and instrument ratings
which would allow him to fly in the clouds, according to the FAA.
