Our area has been preparing for the holidays, and there are several events going on this weekend to get you in that Christmas spirit.
This Saturday, December 1, Holiday Traditions in downtown Lynchburg begins. You can catch an old-fashioned carriage ride from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday before Christmas. The rides leave from the community market, and they're free. The Grinch will also be walking around downtown each Saturday giving out special treats.
The community market in Lynchburg will become the Mistletoe Market December 1! You can take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and there will also be tables with holiday foods and other goodies. That's 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
In Bedford, there is the Christmas Classic 5K race on Saturday at 8 a.m. at Bedford Middle School. The Bedford YMCA is hosting the event, and proceeds benefit its wellness programs. Registration is $20 in advance at the YMCA or $25 the day of the event. If you register on Saturday, organizers recommend that you arrive early.
It's also time for the Christmas Parades in our area! Come out to see those great floats, school bands, and community leaders!
