Lynchburg, VA – Lynchburg officials discussed the city's response to June's derecho in a meeting Thursday.

This is the second meeting officials held to discuss ways to be better prepared in case something of that magnitude ever happened again.

They talked about finding a way for the media and emergency management to work together better.

They also talked about being prepared beforehand like always having a week's worth of supplies ready all the time so if disaster strikes, the city is ready.

"You never know when something is going to happen, and that derecho came out of nowhere," said Sherry Harding, with emergency management. "I just think that continuing that message to the community is very important, and I think media is going to play a large part of that.'

The talks included finding new ways to get information to the public when the power is out people know what's going on as crews get the city back in order.
