Cause of Bent Mountain Fire Determined

Roanoke Co, VA - Fire officials in Roanoke County say ashes from a wood stove caused the fire on Bent Mountain earlier this week.

Crews were on the scene Sunday night and into Monday morning off Willet Lane to put out the fire.

The fire charred about 13 acres.

Officials say the homeowner thought the ashes were cool when he threw them out, but investigators say they were hot enough to start a fire.
