Danville, VA - A Danville church was broken into early Friday morning. Police credit the work of a quick-thinking witness for saving the church a lot of money.
According to Danville Police, Anthony Lee Reynolds, 27, and Kadeem Freeman, 20, of Danville burglarized Mt. Olivet Baptist Church on Adams Street.
Police say the burglary happened around 5 a.m. Friday. They were made aware of the break-in by a call about people outside the church.
When police got to the scene, Reynolds and Freeman were running away.
While police say the two suspects were trying to steal musical instruments and equipment from the church, when they arrived the items were actually recovered and returned. The church still had to fix a damaged door.
Police say it is so important to call 9-1-1 whenever you witness a crime.
"It's the second time in roughly two weeks that we've made multiple arrests and recovered people's property simply because someone took the time to give us a call," said Danville Police Department Captain Dennis Haley.
Reynolds and Freeman were charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny. They are being held at the Danville City Jail with no bond.
