UPDATE:

Bedford, VA - Four Bedford volunteer firefighters were taken to the hospital just before noon Saturday, after their truck flipped over on its way to a call. According to the Bedford Fire Department's Facebook page, all have since been released.

It started as a day of celebration; the Holiday Season is here. Company 1, Engine 1 with Bedford County Fire and Rescue, was moments away from the Bedford parade route, when a call for a fire went out over their radio. Four volunteer fire fighters rushed to the scene.

"I heard sirens come down the road and then next thing you know I look out my window and I see the fire truck turned over," said Kevin Carimi, who lives in the house where the wreck happened.

The wreck happened in the 1200 block of Peaks Street, which was only blocks away from the annual Bedford Christmas Parade.

"My first thought was to run and see if they needed any help," said Kevin.

Kevin and his mother, Phyllis, were home when the wreck happened. They were some of the first people to reach the injured firefighters.

"A few were ok, and then some were crawling out," said Kevin.

The Bedford Fire Chief says four male volunteers were in the truck when it flipped over. Two were described as having serious injuries. One was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

"They were pulling two of them out, as soon as I came outside," said Phyllis.

According to the Carimi's, the stretch of road where the wreck happened is dangerous.

"There have been a few wrecks on this curve but this is the first time I've seen a fire truck flip over," said Kevin.
