Posted:

Despite five turnovers, Brookville advanced to the Division Three state championship game with a 31-7 win over Tunstall on Saturday afternoon.

Brookville advances to face James Monroe for the second straight season. James Monroe beat Kettle Run 37-30 in triple-overtime in the other state semifinal.

Football Friday Player of the Year candidate Kendall BeCraft threw four interceptions all in the first half but the Bees still led 17-7 at halftime.

Phillip Watts and Anthony Calloway scored touchdown runs in the third quarter to eliminate any chance for a Tunstall upset.

BeCraft ended up completing 15 of his 23 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown to Benjamin Hogg. Hogg had four catches for 114 yards.

The Brookville defense held Tunstall to just 192 yards of total offense (156 rushing, 36 passing) while the Bees offense put up 402 yards.

Tunstall's Evan Huffman ran the ball 23 times for 109 yards and scored the Trojans' lone touchdown but the senior also fumbled twice.

Tunstall quarterback Chris Buckner was 3 of 14 passing for 30 yards with an interception.

Game highlights and post game interviews will be on ABC 13 Sports Saturday night after the Kansas State-Texas game.
