Blacksburg - Virginia Tech's bowl game against Rutgers Friday, December 28th will be the Hokies' first postseason bowl game in Orlando. They've been to Jacksonville and Miami plenty of times.
The Russell Athletic Bowl is the former Citrus and Champs Sports Bowl. Playing in their 20th straight bowl game, the Hokies will try and break a 2-game bowl skid. Rutgers has won its last five bowl games, the nation's longest active bowl winning streak.
Frank Beamer, who will guide the Hokies to their 20th straight bowl game, said "Gonna do our best to make a great preparation. And you know I'm proud of the way our football team has come back and won the last two games. And to try and finish it off with a bowl win, I'd be real, real proud."
Logan Thomas, HOKIES R-JUNIOR QUARTERBACK, said "It's gonna be a good place to be able to play, hopefully a little warmer climate than it is here. And you know it's also a nice little town, a nice little city that we're gonna be able to spend a week in."
Jack Tyler, HOKIES R-JUNIOR LINEBACKER, said "It's a big test for us. And you know we want to prove to everybody that even though we've had a down year that we can still play with the big boys and still get wins and win big games."
