Danville, VA - Shops on Danville's Main Street are getting a break thanks to some help from the city.
Construction will halt for the remainder of the holiday season, making parking and shopping easier downtown. Shop owners say the limited parking and blocked paths took a big toll on sales.
So, message boards were installed on Memorial and Craghead to remind people that shops are still up and running despite ongoing construction.
Sidewalks and street parking will be back to normal by Friday.
"It's great and we're thrilled because it does let the customers know, and we are grateful to the city for that," said Michele Muso, Assistant Manager at Cibo.
Construction on Main Street will resume in January, but for now the city will focus on giving Union Street a makeover.
