TU Alumni Hoping Better Days Ahead After Scandals This Year

Posted: Updated:

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Some University of Tulsa alumni say they're hoping the school's second high-profile leadership scandal in a year is a fluke and expressed hope that it has turned a corner after the personnel struggles.

Athletic director Ross Parmley was fired on Tuesday, a week after he was linked to a federal investigation of a man accused of running a gambling operation in Oklahoma City.

In September, Tulsa fired Geoffrey Orsak as president after 74 days on the job. The private school never gave a reason for the quick dismissal.

Alumnus Nick Cooper said this week that he was shocked to hear the news about both scandals occurring so close together, but added that he had confidence Tulsa would maintain its record of excellence for which it has become nationally known.
