Investigators have begun the process of figuring out what sparked a deadly fire in Mayes County early Wednesday morning.
The sheriff's department confirmed the incident to KTUL.com and said a passing motorist reported the fire, which began at approximately 4:51 a.m. Kenwood and Salina Fire Department reported to the scene just moments after.
State Fire Marshal Joanne Sellars said the fire happened at a mobile home in the 7000 Block of Kenwood Road, just east of Salina.
She confirmed that two individuals were inside the home, an adult male and his grandfather, during the time of the fire. The grandson was treated and released while the grandfather was killed.
Sellars also said there were smoke detectors inside the house but didn't confirm whether they were working. State agents are currently at the scene determining the cause of the fire.
The investigation will now be handled by the state fire marshal. Stay with KTUL.com as our newsroom gathers more details.
