Bedford, VA - Officials say the man killed in the accident in Bedford County Thursday was Dale Ridgeway of Moneta.

Update 5 p.m.:

Bedford Co., VA – There was another deadly accident on Route 24 in Bedford County Thursday. Three teens have died on the road in the last couple months.

Thursday's accident was in the 13000 block of Stewartsville Road.

It was around 1 p.m. when other drivers passing on Route 24 started calling dispatch to report that a car had flipped in the curve.

When the emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found the Mustang convertible upside down and the man driving it was trapped inside.

State police say the driver was 60 years old. The Medical Examiner pronounced him dead on the scene.

This was a single car crash. Police believe the driver was heading east toward Bedford and that he ran off the right side of the road, hitting the embankment.

That section of Route 24 was closed for several hours Thursday. It is now open.

A state trooper left the scene Thursday afternoon to notify the family.

Officials say it was a single-vehicle accident, and the car is now upside down on the road.

They believe there was only one person inside the car, and that person was killed.

All lanes are closed as crews clear up the scene, and there's a detour around VA-24.
