Southbound Lanes on Danville Expressway Reopen After Accident


Update 7:07 a.m.:

Danville, VA - The U.S. 29 southbound lanes in Danville are open Friday morning after a semi truck carrying 42,000 pounds of honey overturned blocking traffic.

Update 10:50 p.m.:

Danville, VA - A semi truck carrying 42,000 pounds honey overturned blocking traffic on a major roadway in Danville Thursday night.

Police say around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the truck driver was on the Danville Expressway when he tried to turn on to US. 29. The truck tipped over leaking honey out of the truck. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for his minor injuries.

Currently traffic is block near the accident scene. Fire crews say it could take three to four more hours to clean up the accident and reopen traffic.


Danville, VA - Danville Police say an overturned semi is blocking traffic where Route 58 and the 29 Bypass intersect. Crew have been on the scene since 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Crews are investigating the cause of the accident. No word on how long it will take crews to clean up the accident.
