Danville, VA-- As the battle on whether or not the ban on uranium mining should stay in place, a new group has formed, wanting to make sure their voice is heard.
They are called "People for Economic Prosperity". The 1200 member group believes the moratorium should be lifted. They say uranium mining could have economic benefits in Pittsylvania County such as jobs and capital investment.
"I truly feel it can be safely done in this day and time,"group member Chris Dunlap said. "Granted it wasn't done right in the past, but neither was coal mining and neither was oil drilling. "I think now that they know what they have to do, I think it can be done safely."
People for Economic Prosperity will be launching their website next week so supporters can join the group.
