T-Town Rundown: Tuesday Events, Performances in Tulsa Area

Christmas is inching closer and closer as the days go by. Whether you have gotten your gifts wrapped and put under the tree or not, how about taking a break and checking out a list of activities in the Tulsa area.

As always, follow KTUL.com for full-length coverage on larger stories occurring in the area, state and nation. The following events are just some of those happening Tuesday with updates posted throughout the morning as we send out crews and reporters to stories we're working on for our evening newscasts.

 

Christmas Lights: Head on over to Broken Arrow for their annual Rhema lights display. Visitors can see the displays at Rhema Baptist Church with two million lights and over 100,000 shimmering bulbs synchronized to Christmas music.

Muskogee: If Broken Arrow isn't your thing, then head to Muskogee's Garden of Lights showcase at Honor Heights Park. With more than 1,000,000 shimmering lights and 120 acres of trees, bushes and water areas decorated, you're bound to be in the Christmas season by the end of it.

BOK Center: The weather is right for you and your family to head out to Winterfest. Bundle up and buy some hot chocolate before you head out to the ice rink. There are also plenty of other free events and sights to see Downtown.

For the Art Lovers: Head on over to Chapman Music Hall at the Performing Arts Center for Phill Cooper's newest showcase. Visitors can see his oil paintings of ordinary objects becoming extraordinary through the month of December from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Tulsa: A candlelight vigil will be held to remember homeless persons, friends and neighbors who have passed away over the last year. Staff members will light candles for each individual who lost their life living on the streets. The service will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.

Tahlequah: Those looking to pay their respects for the shooting victims in Connecticut can do so by attending a candlelight vigil this afternoon. Dignitaries will be on hand to show support for all those affected in Newtown. The service begins at 5 p.m. at the Cherokee Nation Courthouse Square in Tahlequah.

Tulsa Sports Commission: A press conference will be held highlighting a new community partnership that will enhance and amplify the Bassmaster Classic coming to the downtown Tulsa and Grand Lake O' the Cherokees Feb. 22-24. The event will take place at 10 a.m. at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
