Blacksburg - Virginia Tech's postseason practices will now transition to bowl game specific drills for Rutgers.
The Hokies had used the early part of their bonus practice time to give players who had redshirted or played sparingly a chance to shine while gaining experience for next season.
Now starting Wednesday, the focus shifts solely to Rutgers and the December 28th Russell Athletic Bowl and trying to end the season with a third straight victory.
Frank Beamer, 20TH STRAIGHT BOWL (8-11 OVERALL), said "You know last year I would have said, at this time last year I would have said hey our program's in good shape, look forward to the future. And right now I would say our program's in good shape and look forward to the future. I think we've got some guys we redshirted that's gonna really help us out and a lot of good young players and recruiting's going well."
Bruce Taylor, HOKIES SENIOR LINEBACKER, said "What we had this year was unacceptable in my eyes. You know we did finish strong, winning the last three out of four or whatever and got to the bowl. But we know we've got to do better. So this bowl game, I feel like this could be that first step."
