Danville Man Survives Utility Pole Crash

Danville, VA -- One man is alive and without injuries in Pittsylvania County after crashing into a utility pole.

Officials say he fell asleep at the wheel on Wednesday afternoon and woke up after splitting a pole on Westover Drive.

There were no reported injuries and only a couple of neighbors lost power. Police charged the man with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

Danville Utilities should replace the pole by the end of the day.
