Pittsylvania County, VA - A Chatham man will serve a year in jail after accidentally shooting his neighbor while hunting last December.
63-year-old Harry Hale was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and shooting from a vehicle.
Hale shot his neighbor, Richie Pope, while Pope was walking his dog on a residential street.
He apologized in court yesterday and claimed that he had mistaken Pope for a deer.
The judge also ordered Hale to pay Pope's widow restitution.
