Bedford Co, VA - High winds toppled a gas station awning early Saturday near Moneta, according to the Bedford County Fire Department and the National Weather Service.

Kevin Musgrove says he noticed the damage early this morning around 8 a.m.

"It looked like it had happened overnight," Musgrove said.

Intense winds that started Friday gusted between 40 and 70 mph into Saturday, prompting the National Weather Service to continue a High Wind Warning for Bedford County and surrounding areas into the day.

The damage is off of Highway 24 near Staunton River High School.

Winds are expected to die off later Saturday.
