Danville Emeritus Wants Coats to Help Local Children

Posted:

Danville, VA-- As we are in the middle of the winter weather season, one Danville assisted living facility is trying to make sure children in the area stay warm.

Emeritus is hosting a Coats for Kids Program. They've been doing it for several years now. Emeritus is asking for people to bring in old coats for children and young adults.

A local dry cleaner has offered to clean them for free. Emeritus says they've seen an overwhelming response from the community.

"We all have coats laying around that we no longer use, the kids have outgrown them and they just kind of sit in the closet, Emeritus Community Relations Director, Gordon Martel said. "This is a great way to have these coats out there in the hands of other kids who really do need them."

The coats will be taken to local churches which will then distribute them to needy children in the area.

Emeritus will be accepting the coats until New Years day. However, if you don't have time before New Years day they will be happy to accept them for a couple of weeks after.
