Lynchburg - Today's ABC 13 Sports high school Team of the Week is the L.C.A. wrestling team.
The Bulldogs, led by head coach Paul Anthony, are off to a fast start this year. They've entered five multi-team tournaments so far this season and won four of the five. Their most recent victory came in last weekend's 15-team event at Parry McCluer, the Bulldogs had six individual champs and 11 place-winners. The Dogs host the LCA Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
Paul Anthony, 5TH-YEAR L.C.A. HEAD COACH, said "You know this particular group, we just have some really high character young men and they're a joy to work with. I mean I never come to practice dreading it or whatever, I look forward to it every day because they're such a fun group to be around."
Andrew Atkinson, L.C.A. SENIOR WRESTLER, said "We have a ton of seniors this year, we got 'em lined up last year. We had a ton of kids get second at states and we're looking to win states. And also we have people who got second last year who should get first this year."
Blake Papet, L.C.A. SENIOR WRESTLER, said "I think it's toughness. None of the guys on our team give up in matches. We teach 'em never to give up in a match."
