Danville, VA - Danville City Council is expected to pass a resolution Thursday night to support the ban on uranium mining. Other cities like Martinsville have passed similar resolutions.
Delegate Don Merricks spoke Thursday about how these cities' opinions impact their own opinion of issues. He says that since elected officials represent their area, he does take their voice into consideration. But that does not mean he will do what they say. Merricks says when cities vote on issues, it often gives those issues credibility.
"Naturally their voice has some merit. So all of those whether it be the farm bureau, the chamber, whatever group it may be all of them come together, you have to take it into consideration," said Merricks.
The council meeting will be Thursday at 7 p.m.
