Lynchburg, VA - Your generous donations to our Heroes for the Heart of the Virginia project are helping veterans.
The Exchange Club of Lynchburg handed out $4,000 Friday to the family of a soldier lost in Afghanistan and to the Wounded Warrior Project.
The group presented a $2,000 check to the family of Sergeant Greg Copes of Altavista, who died last year in Afghanistan.
Copes was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy.
"Greg Copes' wife Tia has four children, so I am quite certain the donation made today will assist her tremendously--financial support for her and the kids," said Eugene Wingfield with the Exchange Club of Lynchburg.
Another $2,000 was presented to the Virginia Wounded Warrior project. The money raised was collected during fundraisers at Kroger in Forest and Timberlake Road.
