Roanoke Police Looking for Man Involved in Shooting

Roanoke, VA – Officials are investigating a shooting that happened on Melrose Avenue in Roanoke Thursday night.

Officers from the Roanoke Police Department responded to a call around 8 p.m. on the 2800 block of Melrose Avenue. They say they found Jermaine Lamar Slayton, 26, with a gunshot wound.

Slayton said he had been shot earlier inside his parked car on the 2700 block of Melrose Road by a man who Slayton said was trying to rob him. Slayton said he drove farther down the road and called 911.

Slayton said the man who shot him was short and wore a mask.
