UPDATE: 7:00 p.m.

Lynchburg, VA - As expected record warmth continued for another day Sunday.

Danville was the warmest, reaching 76 degrees officially at 2:26 p.m. That breaks the old record of 74 degrees, which dates back to 1960.

In the New River Valley, Blacksburg reached a high of 69 degrees, shattering their old record of 64 degrees set in 2005.

Roanoke and Lynchburg did not officially set records, though temperatures were very warm and within a few degrees of tying their record highs for the day.

Lynchburg's high came in at 71 degrees Sunday, short of the 74-degree reading it needed to tie the record set back in 1932.

Roanoke came within two degrees of tying their record high. The Roanoke Regional Airport made it to 71 degrees officially, but not to the record high of 73 degrees.

-------------------------

Lynchburg, VA - Thanks to a strong area of high pressure and an approaching cold front to our west, some very warm air combined with sunny skies to break record high temperatures across the ABC 13 viewing area Saturday.

The spring-like weather will continue again on Sunday, with highs between 70 and 75 likely for most locations.

The records that fell Saturday are as follows:

Lynchburg: SATURDAY HIGH: 70 degrees... OLD RECORD: 69 in 2005.

Roanoke: SATURDAY HIGH: 73 degrees... OLD RECORD: 71 in 2005.

Danville: SATURDAY HIGH: 70... Ties the OLD RECORD of 70 in 1975.

Records for Sunday could also fall. So far, here are the standings:

Lynchburg: 74 (1932)

Roanoke: 73 (1932)

Danville: 74 (1960)

With the top range of the forecast at 75 degrees, any one of these locations could see record highs again Sunday. Note the Lynchburg and Roanoke records go all the way back to 1932.
