Virginia Senate to Vote on 'Gun Show Loophole' Bill

Richmond, VA - A bill is back on the agenda Wednesday afternoon about whether to close Virginia's so-called "gun show loophole."

The Courts of Justice Committee voted last week 8 to 6 to endorse the legislation, but that changed an hour later.

As of right now, only licensed gun dealers have to conduct criminal background checks on buyers at gun shows but not private sellers.

A new proposal would allow only licensed dealers to sell firearms at gun shows. Private sellers would be allowed to put guns on consignment with dealers.
