Lynchburg 911 Center Looking to Start Internship

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg's 911 center's one step away from getting its very first intern on board.

Tuesday, city council approved moving forward with the position, which is funded from a grant. It passed unanimously.

Now, it just has one more step to go with city council. And if it passes that, it will be a part-time position most suited for candidates in graduate-level programs focused around emergency preparedness.

The intern would help with administrative work, even work on the emergency management program for the city.

"We feel like it will give them an opportunity to really get more real-world experience in emergency management and also public service as well working for a government agency," said Melissa Foster, deputy director, Lynchburg Emergency Communications.

Council will talk about the position at its next meeting.
