The university began its formal search for a new president in May. Current President Mark Rutland announced in the Fall of 2011 that he would step down as president at the end of the 2012-2013 academic year.
Wilson will be the fourth president to the lead the university since its founding by namesake and famed evangelist Oral Roberts in 1963.
Rutland was the first person outside of the Roberts' family to hold the leadership position.
Dr. Wilson will have the title of president-elect until Rutland officially steps down in June.
Wilson was serving as vice-chair of ORU's board of trustees.
Wilson has a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Western Kentucky University, a master's in evangelism and missions from the Church of God Theological Seminary and a doctor or ministry from Pentecostal Theological Seminary, according to his bio from the Center for Spiritual Renewal.
