
Thursday night Full Court Press action, it was a big night for the Heritage boys and girls teams.
The boys rallied from three down entering the final quarter to beat Jefferson Forest 51-44 and remain undefeated in the Seminole District at 9-and-0 and one game ahead of E.C. Glass.
Justen Joyner led Pioneers scoring with 13 points and 7 assists, Malik Tyree added 11. Heritage improves to 15-and-4 on the season.
The Heritage girls clinched the Seminole District regular season title with a 61-52 victory at JF. Cameron Carter led Pioneers scoring with 20. JF led by one at the half 24-23, but the Pioneers too tough the second half. JF's Amber Evans led all scorers with 24 points, she added 10 rebounds. Heritage improves to 18-and-2 overall, a perfect 10-and-0 in the district. Between the two, the Heritage boys and girls have not lost a district game all season, a combined 19-and-0.
The L.C.A. girls were scheduled to host Martinsville Thursday night, but last week's postponements due to snow forced Martinsville to try and make up district games this week. So Martinsville had to scratch the L.C.A. game. L.C.A. was able to pick up a game at the last minute, an exhibition contest against the Thomasville, NC post-grad team. Raven Jefferson scored 17, Claire Thompson 13 as L.C.A. kept it tight, but Thomasville pulled out a 62-56 win. L.C.A. donated proceeds from the game to the Coaches Versus Cancer charity effort.
