On the morning of our five year anniversary, January 21, 2013, I asked Kendra Chapman to be my bride over historic Charlottesville VA in a hot-air balloon.
Around the time that Kendra and I met in 2008 I started to work for the hot air balloon company, Bonaire Charters in Charlottesville.
On our anniversary we pull up to a massive half-inflated rainbow balloon.
Close to 45 minutes later as we passed the last of the part of the city of Charlottesville and the terrain began to grow more rural, Kendra noticed a big red van off in the distance with a lot of folks gathering around. "Is that the camp van?" She asked. "Nah, they're all at work. There's no reason for them to be here. Often time's people stop to watch the balloons." I told her. A few moments later, Scott the pilot, handed Kendra a pair of binoculars and told her to check it out.
As she read the words "MARRY ME?" written on top the red van with white paint and recognized the people around, I dropped to one knee, whipped out the little black velvet box that had been home to my future for the past month. As she turned to me I opened the box on one knee and I asked, "Kendra Chapman will you marry me?" As this glow came over her, she exclaimed "YES!"
