It was the day before Valentine's Day. Liberty University has a "talent show" called Coffee House that students audition to participate in. This particular show had a Valentine's Day theme. I planned this proposal two hours before the show. My friend Jeff was in charge of it and I asked him to if he could have the M.C. pretend in the middle of the show that an act canceled and they needed to fill some time. I play the piano so I was going to be the "fill-in." About three fourths of the way through the show, the M.C. says he has a canceled act and said, "I heard Dan was here. I need you to fill some time on the piano, can you do a solo for us? Everyone around me was standing up pointing at me and yelling, "GO GO!" So I reluctantly went on stage, acted so unprepared, purposely messed up. I apologized to the audience for not being prepared because it was so spontaneous and that I was embarrassed. Sharon was embarrassed too - she had her head in her hands. Then I grabbed the mic and said, "I have a song that I recently wrote for my girlfriend."
VERSE:
"Words can't say how much I love you. I love you more than words can say.
You're always on my mind... I think about you all the time.
And now that I realize I need you more each day - here's what I want to say.....
CHORUS:
Will you marry me? Please marry me.
I can't live my life, unless you're my wife.
You've got me on one knee... please marry me."
All 3,000 in attendance stood up in applause and she said yes.
