Fire cadets will be at a west Tulsa refinery throughout Tuesday morning as they receive training to combat oil fires.
Residents reported black smoke coming from the Sinclair Refinery along 21st Street.
Tulsa Fire's Stan May told KTUL.com that firefighters will be located at the refinery until this afternoon as they learn to put out flammable liquid and oil fires. They are also learning to better acquaint themselves with the equipment necessary.
May said the reason the smoke is black is due to the type of blazes they are training to put out. Cadets will also learn how to put out larger oil fires while they are located at the refinery.
Stay with KTUL.com as we update this throughout the day.
