Area H.S. Athletes Make it Official on National Signing Day

Posted:

G.W.-Danville tight end Chris Burton chose Cincinnati over N.C. State.

Tommy Tuberville is Cincinnati's new head coach after coaching at Texas Tech. Tuberville's staff had been recruiting Burton even before N.C. State joined the mix and that connection was the main reason he decided to become a Bearcat.

N.C. State was a contender until Tom O'Brien and his staff were fired following the 2012 season.

Burton said he made his decision last week but kept it from everyone until Wednesday. "Everyone at Cincinnati is great people. They're a big family there," Burton said.
