IBM to Provide Infrastructure Support for Advanced Skills Management Industrial (ASMi)
Poulsbo, WA (PRWEB) February 12, 2013
Paladin Data Systems Corporation announced today its partnership with IBM on the launch of Advanced Skills Management Industrial (ASM Industrial) as a Software as a Service (SaaS) application that provides planning, building, and managing of skilled personnel for the development and maintenance of successful organizations.
This deployment model supports the Department of Defense’s (DoD) IT directives and strategic technology policies for acquiring software. ASMi’s predecessor, Advanced Skills Management (ASM), has been used by the Navy and Marine Corps since the 1990s but ultimately, Paladin Data Systems’ goal is the application’s adoption across the Department of Defense in its entirety.
With IBM’s extensive data and hosting experience supporting numerous mission critical DoD applications, Paladin’s partnership further solidifies ASMi’s authority to support DoD missions in every military organization worldwide. In the deployment of ASMi, IBM will manage information assurance, hosting, operational support, incident management support, and infrastructure support for the Federal DoD Data Center. The application will run in a private government cloud that is certified to meet all applicable DIACAP security requirements.
IBM has a Cyber-security and Privacy practice with deep experience in this area. Paladin has already tested ASMi for compliance with the appropriate Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) and has the information assurance expertise to lead the efforts for obtaining the ASMi Authority to Operate (ATO).
Jim Nall, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Paladin Data Systems, states, "Paladin’s development team has dedicated itself to testing, configuring, and fine-tuning the ASMi application to scale to large user communities in the IBM Federal Data Center. This agreement is the last step in providing IBM's DoD customers the much needed access to this application."
The Advanced Skills Management Industrial (ASM Industrial) system is a Web-centric training, testing, and workforce readiness management tool designed specifically for the Armed Forces. With hundreds of thousands of military personnel worldwide requiring up-to-date training, ASM Industrial enables supervisors to assess at a glance the overall deployment readiness of military forces, view complete unit and individual training capabilities, and provide competency information for day-to-day operations, emergency readiness, and incident investigations.
