LU Football Assistant Head Coach Carl Torbush Retires

Lynchburg - Liberty Flames assistant head coach and linebackers coach Carl Torbush retired from coaching Tuesday.

After joining Liberty's staff last January, Torbush helped LU convert its defense back to a 4-3 scheme.  LU's defense ranked 15th nationally in total defense.  Two of Liberty's top three tacklers, Scott Hyland and Nick Sigmon, were linebackers, with both earning all-conference honors.

         Torbush coached more than 30 years, including head coaching stops at Louisiana Tech and North Carolina.
