Randolph College Announces 10th President

Lynchburg, VA - Randolph College announced its 10th president Thursday.

Doctor Bradley Bateman was announced in a special ceremony in the newly renovated Student Center.

Randolph's Board of Trustees unanimously selected Bateman during its regular board meeting this past weekend. He was selected out of 90 other people.

Bateman has served as Denison's provost since 2007. He previously served as associate dean at Grinnell College in Iowa. He holds degrees from Alma College in Michigan and the University of Kentucky.

But for Bateman, Randolph is a special place.

"It's not just a co-educational college; it's a place where we really think carefully about what the education of a young man is, what the education of a young woman is, and I think that's a great opportunity," said Dr. Bateman.

Bateman, 56, will replace John E. Klein, who will retire June 30. Klein transitioned Randolph from an all-women's college to co-ed.
