Update: Man Hit By Van on Rt. 460 in Campbell Co., Causes Major Delays

Update:11:50 p.m.

Campbell Co., VA- State police say a man was hit by conversion van on Route 460 in Campbell County a little before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Traffic was backed up a long way during the accident.

Troopers say the man was walking and may have ended up in the roadway.

The pedestrian was first taken to Lynchburg General Hospital and then taken by helicopter to UVA Medical Center.

The driver of the van was shaken up but not injured.

They say nothing indicates that the driver of the van ever left the roadway.

Officials say there were no charges filed.

Lynchburg, VA - Several crews are on the scene of an accident in Campbell County that has caused bad traffic delays on Route 460.

Lynchburg officials say 460 West at the Airport Road exit remains closed to all traffic.

They say westbound traffic is being diverted to Wards Road.

Police ask that you avoid the area.
