Full Court Press Wednesday Highlights and Scores:

The Altavista boys broke open a five-point game at the half against William Campbell, beating the Generals 51-37 in the Region B, Division 1 quarterfinals Wednesday night at Altavista.

Darius Johnson led Colonels scoring with 17, Juan Thornhill added 14.  Altavista improves to 19-and-3 on the season.  The Colonels will face Gretna in the region semifinals Friday night at 7 at Amherst County High School.

Gretna got by Cumberland 53-47, Javon Bennett led the Hawks with 20 points.  This will be the fourth meeting this season between Altavista and Gretna, Altavista has won the first three.

Friday night's winner earns an automatic state tournament berth and advances to Saturday's region championship game.

Andrew Rowsey of Rockbridge County poured in 32 points, but the Wildcats fell at Spotswood 87-61.  The loss ends Rowsey's high school career, an incredible one that saw him pile up 2,637 points, only 50 shy of the VHSL all-time mark.  

Dogwood champ Dan River won its Region B, Division 2 quarterfinal, knocking off Bluestone 59-42.  The Wildcats face 23-1 Buckingham County Friday night in the region semis, Buckingham slipped by Goochland 50-47, Cam Johnson led Buckingham with 20 points.

The Heritage girls rallied from six points down with 6:00 left to beat Staunton River 53-49.  Cameron Carter led Heritage with 20 points and 4 steals.  Heritage earns an automatic state tournament berth and will face Lord Botetourt in Friday night's 6 o'clock championship game at Staunton River High School.
