Dr. Farooq Ashraf of the Atlanta Vision Institute Says LASIK Does More Than Improve Vision.
ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) February 24, 2013
Atlanta ophthalmologist Dr. Farooq Ashraf was interviewed Wednesday about the life changing effects of having LASIK eye surgery. According to Ashraf, LASIK is a quick and painless surgery, after which many patients experience immediate improvement of their vision. He emphasized that having LASIK surgery does more than improve a patient’s vision; it also opens up many opportunities that he or she may have avoided prior to having the procedure because of the inconveniences that accompany contacts and glasses. “Have LASIK surgery is about more than no longer having to wear glasses or contacts. Many people find that they are more outgoing, whether this is because they feel more confident in themselves or because they feel more able to do things that they did not used to do because they are no longer restricted by their poor eyesight or eyewear.”
Ashraf said that many of his patients have reported that they now try more new things or are able to worry less while doing the things that they enjoy. “I had one patient that was an avid cyclist and rode his bike to work every day. This particular patient was extremely uncomfortable with contacts, so he wore glasses.” Wearing glasses made biking difficult and at time unsafe because glasses do not provide adequate peripheral vision and can at times be unsecure, even with a strap. “After his LASIK surgery, he felt much better about biking on busy roads because he trusted his vision more, and he was also no longer encumbered by his glasses.”
Dr. Ashraf is an ophthalmologist and founder of the Atlanta Vision Institute. He has personally performed over 40,000 LASIK surgeries. He obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio, and his advanced training in corneal and refractive surgery at Johns Hopkins University. In addition to the Atlanta Vision Institute, he also founded the Atlanta Vision Clinic in Dubai. For more information, please visit http://www.atlanta2020.com/.
